The Honeymoon Phase Cocktail
 
Makes 1 servings
Ingredients
  • 2 ounces unfiltered sake
  • 1½ ounces Japanese botanical gin*
  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon Juice
  • ¾ ounce Honeydew Cordial (recipe follows)
  • ¾ ounce cream of coconut*
  • ½ ounce mint and lemon verbena syrup*
  • Garnish: fresh mint, sliced honeydew melon
Instructions
  1. Fill a collins glass with crushed ice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine sake, gin, lemon juice, Honeydew Cordial, cream of coconut, and syrup. Add ice, cover, and shake until cold. Pour into prepared glass, and garnish with mintand honeydew melon, if desired.
Notes
*I use Roku Gin, Coco Reàl, and Cocktail & Sons Mint & Lemon Verbena Syrup. If Cocktail & Sons Mint & Lemon Verbena Syrup is not available, use simple syrup and give a squeeze fresh of lemon rind.

 

 

Honeydew Cordial
 
Makes about 1 cup
Ingredients
  • ½ honeydew melon, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup sugar
Instructions
  1. Press melon pieces through a masticating juicer, and fine-strain the juice with a tea strainer or chinoise. (Alternatively, in the work bowl of a food processor or the container of a blender, process melon pieces until smooth; strain thoroughly). Measure 1 cup juice in a liquid-measuring cup. Use any remaining juice for another use.)
  2. Add sugar to a 1-pint Mason jar, and add juice; cover and shake until sugar dissolves. Use immediately, or refrigerate up to 5 days.
