Made with yellow cake mix, cream cheese, and powdered sugar, this easy dessert bakes up with a chewy crust and a sweet, creamy top layer. Perfect for tailgates, potlucks, and family gatherings, it’s a crowd-pleasing treat that’s simple to make and even easier to love!
Mama Ford’s Ooey Gooey Cake
Makes 1 (12 x 9-inch) cake
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 2 eggs, divided
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 (1-pound) box powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, butter, and 1 egg together. The batter will be sticky. Press it into a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In the same bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and remaining 1 egg together until smooth. Spread cream cheese mixture on top of the cake.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Lower the temperature to 300°, and bake for another 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Cut into squares and serve.
