Last fall, STIR Coffee House opened its doors in Baton Rouge’s Jefferson Terrace neighborhood. Is it just another coffee shop? Not at all. STIR owner Katie Jenkins, who also runs the Grace Therapy Center, concepted the shop to work with local nonprofit Strides to help offer employment opportunities for young adults and adults with intellectual and developmental differences. STIR also supports the local business community by serving Ascension Roasting Company coffee and tea from Fleur De Lis Tea Co. stircoffeebr.com Led by Boucherie’s executive chef and owner, Nathanial Zimet, Boucherie Feeds is fighting food inequity in New Orleans one meal at a time. With 64% of children in Orleans Parish being income-eligible for federal nutrition programs, there’s a need to combat food scarcity. Launched in 2022, this program provides complete, nutritious, and tasty meals to students in low-income areas throughout the Crescent City. boucherie-neworleans.com/boucherie-feeds
