NEW ORLEANS SEVENTH WARD: A few minutes’ drive from City Park, Bayou St. John, and the Fairgrounds Racecourse, intrepid diners will find crunchy-fried perfection at McHardy’s Chicken & Fixin’. The takeout-only restaurant dishes out unbeatable spicy chicken with freshly made dipping sauces. In addition to the fried chicken, McHardy’s serves red beans and rice and pickled jalapeño peppers, and they should not be missed.
SHREVEPORT: In Shreveport it’s all about Southern Classic Fried Chicken, which is to Shreveport as cheesesteaks are to Philly. Southern Classic has achieved absolute perfection in seasoning and crispiness. Not too hot, and not too bland.

I don’t see Willie Mae’s Scotch House on the list. That’s the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten in my life. It’s on St. Ann, in New Orleans.
Willie Mae’s Scotch House is indeed excellent! With this list, we tried to hit places all around the state. You’ll see Willie Mae’s on here before too long!
I personally do not care for willie Mae scotch house fried chicken. Most have gone on an off day way too salty and greasy
love my salt and grease
The best fried chicken is in West Monroe! We have amazing restaurants in Ouachita Parish. Next time head to Magic Grill chicken in West Monroe for amazing chicken and rolls.
Chick-a-dilly in Haynesville/Homer should be on this list.
I don’t see Lake Charles represented???
Where’s your favorite fried chicken place in Lake Charles? We used to list Ball’s Fried Chicken but had to remove it after it closed.
Ball’s is still opened in Lake Charles.
Ball’s is definitely still open!
Italian Pie in Chalmette, started selling fried chicken and its the best in St Bernard area for sure. Their red beans are also really good.
Chick a dilly in Homer is hard to beat!
