Spiced Citrus Warm Fruit Compote

 

Spiced Citrus Warm Fruit Compote
 
Makes 6 to 8 Servings
Ingredients
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) can apricot halves, drained and diced
  • 1 cup halved thawed frozen dark sweet cherries
  • 1 cup diced fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup diced Bartlett pear
  • ¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup orange marmalade
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 whole star anise
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Cajun seasoning*
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions
  1. In a medium stockpot, bring all ingredients to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until softened and mixture is slightly thickened, 15 to 20 minutes. Discard cinnamon stick and star anise. Serve warm, or cover and refrigerate for up to 5 days. Warm before serving.

*We used Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning.
