Festival International de Louisiane Eats

TassoPasta1639MJFor an eclectic mix of music, culture, and dining, in a fun outdoor setting, Festival International is a hard act to beat. Last year, Louisiana icons, Trombone Shorty, the Lost Bayou Ramblers, and Lagniappe Brass Band, shared the stages with acts from around the world, including some from Jamaica, Mali, Israel, and Brazil. Make sure to bring your best dancing shoes because once those bands get going, it’ll be hard not to boogie.

Catfish1662MJSince a whole section of downtown Lafayette closes down to motor traffic for the five-day Festival International, some of the town’s most memorable restaurants are within a quick walk. You can stop in to Pamplona for a well made cocktail, or try some of their remarkable tapas, including chorizo-stuffed mushrooms, ceviche, or goat cheese croquettes. Also nearby are Carpe Diem!, which offers a delightful selection of house-made gelati, and The French Press, where rising-star Chef Justin Girouard serves incomparable brunch and lunch dishes.

What’s your favorite thing to eat at Festival International?
