In a city where food, drink, and connection are woven into daily life, Camp Kent, otherwise known as Mr. Happy Hour, has carved out a niche that feels both timely and deeply New Orleans. What began as a practical way to enjoy great restaurants on a budget has grown into a trusted guide for happy hours, events, and social experiences across the city. From spotlighting new openings to hosting early evening gatherings that prioritize fellowship over late nights, his content reflects a thoughtful approach to dining and community.

When did you first start posting content, and what was the drive behind it?

I first started posting in 2017. At the time, I lived in downtown New Orleans and wanted to experience all these great restaurants around me, but I really could not afford them. I started discovering happy hour and realized that a lot of really cool restaurants offered great drinks and small bites for a few dollars. It became a fun thing to explore, so I started posting about it. Friends jokingly started calling me Mr. Happy Hour, and it snowballed from there as people began asking me where to go for the best drinks and food.

What is it about happy hour that you still love today?

I am 36 now, and it can be hard to go out late at night with friends. Those club and bar nights are fewer and farther between. Happy hour lets everyone carve out an hour or two right after work. It is a chance to try new places and new items at a discounted rate, but more than that, it’s a great way to connect with friends and people I do not see often.

What do you hope people gain from your content?

For me, it is about exposing people to new places. While happy hour is my focus, I also cover brunch, full menus, and other dining experiences. I am always trying to feature new spots across the city. I hope people are inspired to try new places and experience different parts of New Orleans as the city continues to grow.

If you had to pick your go-to happy hour spots in New Orleans, what would they be?

The best happy hour in the city is Morrow Steak because of the value. Domenica is an original spot for me. They were one of the first to do happy hour on a large scale, and I still go often. Desi Vega’s Steakhouse is another favorite. My friends and I went there every Friday for years because the happy hour was so good.

Where do you see your brand in the next five years?

I would love to create one or two festivals in New Orleans and possibly open a restaurant or brunch spot under the Mr. Happy Hour brand.
