When the weather gets sweltering in Louisiana, no ordinary ice cream will do. Summertime is the perfect season to indulge in these iconic, icy treats that originated in New Orleans. These syrupy-sweet confections are in a class of their own, and we unabashedly dig in every chance we get. (Even when it’s chilly, we can’t resist!) So you won’t miss out on one bit of delicious fun, we created a list of the top eight places to satisfy your snoball cravings across the state.
First up is Debbie’s Snowballs in West Monroe, a go-to for this summertime staple. Sweet treats galore can be found with numerous flavors to choose from to get in your fix. Speaking of sweet perfection, SnoMan Snoballs in Baton Rouge is also a must-try. With multiple locations to choose from, you’re spoiled for choice with its sky-high stacked ice.
Add Flying Dolly’s in Mandeville to your summer snoball bucket list. Ready to serve anyone who’s craving a sweet and refreshing treat, Flying Dolly’s has next-level gourmet snoballs. With an adventure waiting in every cup, you’ll have a hard time picking which flavor to choose first. And, of course, a snoball list would not be complete without including Hansen’s Sno-Bliz in New Orleans. Hansen’s is renowned for its snoballs and well worth the wait. Though long lines form during peak hours, you won’t be disappointed once you get your hands on one of its snoballs.
Another popular Crescent City destination is Williams Plum Street Snoballs. Whether you choose to sample only one flavor or have yourself a smorgasbord, you’ll be satisfied with every sweet bite. Then there’s Tiger Sneaux in Benton. Its ice is shaved to perfection and loaded with flavor—no wonder it’s a hot spot during the summer months with the variety it offers and wonderful Southern hospitality waiting to greet you.
Rounding out our list are Murph’s Olde Tyme Snowballs in Lafayette (inside Olde Tyme Grocery) and Ro-Bear’s Snowballs & Soft Serve in Harahan. Olde Tyme Grocery is a hidden gem and a must-try when in Lafayette. As for Ro-Bear’s, the reviews speak for themselves with fans raving about the icy concoctions to be found here at a great cost that can’t be beat.
These are just a few of our favorites, but we’re sure there are more scrumptious snoballs to be had. Did we miss your favorite place? Let us know!
